After many requests to document Anikan and my adventures in competitive dressage, I have (somewhat) reluctantly developed this blog. I've always personally hated the blog world as it seems self indulgent and a bit ego-centric. But here I am blogging away for your entertainment and viewing pleasure. So here is what you are going to see here and what you aren't going to see...
What is going to be on here:
-Shameless brags regarding Anikan's general amazingness, training, showing etc.
-Photographic and video (if I can figure it out) evidence of some potentially good riding and most likely some epically bad riding (on my part).
-Endless praise for Off the Track Thoroughbreds (here and after referred to as OTTBs) aka the best athlete and partner EVER!
-Completely opinionated and biased commentary on everything horse and generally life related.
-Adorable pics of my kid, tried (and potentially failed) recipes, and general life notes (I'm a working adult and as such I do other things than riding.)
What you aren't going to see:
-Hating of any nature
-Multi-thousand dollar horses, $300 pairs of breeches, and generally any obsenely expensive horses/equipment/anything (seriously, I am real person living on a real budget doing quite possibly the most expensive sport in the world).
Basically folks we see on the internet all these insanely beautiful riders, horses, equipment, farms etc. and no one is talking about how REAL people in REAL life on a REAL budget (I mean really do some of these dressage queens even know what a budget is???) are doing this and being successful!(And quite arguably are the backbone of this sport). I see wonderful amateurs every weekend out ROCKING it and yet they aren't the ones we discuss. Instead we discuss Valegros, Importing a new hot talent, training with the most expensive trainer/clinician money can find, and buying the newest fashions. So in an effort to give a shout out to all of us managing a full life out of the saddle and being a success in the saddle I've made this blog!
Hope you enjoy and feel free to comment!
